In some communities, the water is there, but no one fully trusts it. It might look clear, but people still boil it before drinking. In other places, the nearest source is far enough that collecting water takes time out of the day. This becomes routine. People adjust around it.
The problem is not always dramatic. It shows up slowly. Children fall sick more often. Work is missed. School days are lost. Expenses increase in ways that are not obvious at first.
We have seen how something as basic as water can shape daily life. That is why we support access to safe drinking water in Pakistan where reliability is limited. The approach depends on the area. Sometimes it is about improving access. Sometimes it is about making existing sources safer. We do not assume one solution fits everywhere.
Water does not get much attention until there is a shortage. But when supply becomes uncertain, families feel it immediately.
